English Language Challenges

The course of English this year started with the level : English III and now we are finishing with English IV.  I have to say I really enjoyed the classes because I think it's important for any person to know a little of another language, specially if it is English. 

About the method used in this course, for me it's new to have to write every week in a blog, it's  a complete new experience,but very also interesting and funny, if you want share live experiences and other stuff, this is definitely a good way to do that.

If I think in the challenges of learning English, the hardest for me is talking, I'm very shy when I have to talk in front of other people in Spanish, so talking in English is twice as hard. Some times I have the perfect sentences in my mind, but at the time of talking, I say things with no sense or wrong. I usually mix the tenses of the sentences.So definitely I should improve this skill to be able to talk in a right way, maybe I can do that with some class or course, or by practicing more on my own .

In my normal life, I didn't use English so much, at least not to communicate with others, I didn't have the necessity to talk in English. But I use this language sometimes to know the lyrics of any song, to know what it means in the instructions of something, when I watch some movie or series, I try to not read the subtitles.

                                                                       Some Changes

If I have to made some changes to this University, specifically to this Faculty, at the level of infrastructure and furniture, I think in more places with couches, because if you walk through the halls you can see students sleeping in the floor or in some couch, even in the floor of the library, see that makes me laugh sometimes but also think in have more space to relax and sleep in our free hours.

About the workload, I know I'm only in the first year, but think in the career in general, you can realize that you will spend a lot of time in the Faculty, combined with that, to pass your subjects you need study a lot and spend a lot of time in that, for that I think in this moment do both of this things it's not compatible, for one person who pass most of his day in the University and have to came to his house to only study will be exhausting, Faculty need to fix that and give to his students a horary with less hours in the University, in this way the students can perform in a good way.

I'm not really a technology lover, actually I prefer do the stuff and issues in person because I have not trust in technology, for that I'm not incouraging the use of technology for our study.

About the subjects that we have to study, I think the subjects are according to our level of difficulty and related with the profession, because in first year it's important have the basis for the next years, when the subjects are totally related with the profession and are more clinical, I think maybe we can have some courses in every year to relax and get involved in other topics or sports. 

My favorite artist 

Hello everyone! Today I'm going to talk about my favorite artist, I could choose a band but I listen to many but I don't like any more than the others, so it's easier to me to pick an artist, so I'm going to talk about Chris Brown.

He is a singer from United States, more precisely from Virginia, at this moment he is 27 years old and he is father of one girl named Royalty. Chris Brown is famous for his music and the mix of types of styles in his songs like rap, soul, R&B etc, but also he's recognized for his problems with others artist, for that reason people judge him but he paid for his mistakes. 

I started listening to his music because one of my brothers already did, so like a every little sister I copied his music to my mp3, at this moment I didn't have idea what he sang, but I liked the rhythm a lot, so I searched for more of his music on youtube. His music was the first songs in English that I heard, in part that made me learn some English or at least understand a little. 

He has seven albums of his own, and many colaborations with others artists of the same style, also he has participated in some movies like Takers, Think like a Man and This Christmas and in a movie named Battle of the years because he is a great dancer too.

The last sunday he won a prize in the AMA'S with his album named "Royalty" like a favorite masculine artist of soul/r&b.

He has never come to Chile, but I hope does someday because I've never gone to a concert and it would be great to have one of his concerts as a first time ! 

Summer Holidays 

In this time of the year. I'm not thinking in plans for my vacation, actually I'm thinking in my ending tests and trying to not fail one. But thinking about the holidays is the best and you always want to do great things and have some rest.

First, I'll probably work for the first month,January, in some place near to La Ligua, to save money and use for the materials of this career and use a part of it for me.

In the second month I hope to travel or do something. For the last two summer I spent one week in Viña del mar, in a apartment of one of my friends with six more friends, so I'll probably go to there again for one week. It's difficult for us to travel farther because we never coincide in our free weeks, but we are planing a big trip, I hope it happens soon.

I really hope I can travel with my family this summer, I mean I've been missing them a lot for this year and I think it would be great to spend some days with them and enjoy the summer. If this happens, we'll travel to the south of Chile, not one place in particular, that because my mom and dad love the south and they enjoy the fact of just travelling and knowing different places. 

In the activities that I would do with my family, I think of spending some days in a camp, we did this the last summer in "Las Siete Tazas" and was very fun and relax, as it is a family trip we have to do activities to like everybody and to my brothers this it's a great way to spend the summer, but in general to my whole family it's nice. I would do rafting because I've never had the opportunity to do that but I've always wanted to do that.

This acronym means " Semana de la Escuela" and it's a tradition for this faculty to celebrate and do a lot of activities.

That week was very very fun, I think all the students deserve some days to only enjoy and celebrate, to forget about all the worries like all the tests that we have,and have the afternoon only for a having a good time, this year it was a   very expected week by  the students  of all the generations.

So if you are new, like me this year, I'm going to give you some advice for this week :)

This week was in the start of September, I have to say the sun was a really enemy for us, so like a first advice, make sure of having a sun blocker, because all the activities were in “Macchu Pichu” at around 3 p.m and they lasted  the whole  afternoon, here the sun was blocked for the building only for a few hours, and Tuesday , in Lonquen, it  was terrible.

If you don't have a car, it’s very important that you always remember that the subway closes! So keep that in mind, I know that many students live very close to the University, but in general, most of the students have to use the subway to get home and have to make combination. For that, knowing the closing times of the subway will be very useful, in special if you know that it will be difficult to remember.

Another tip can be, always eat, this can  sound obvious, but trust me, it's very important. I'm not talking about a healthy food for this week, I mean that it's the best for you, but I'm giving you this advice because many students only think in celebrate, but they forget how bad it's start to drinking with a empty stomach. Near to the faculty we have a multiple options to eat, you can find a home made food places, fast food, sushi, etc., so what you want to eat probably you can find it in Independencia or Santos Dumont Street.

At last but not least, to survive in this week, come prepared to see of everything(trust me I have some pictures that I don't want see), and more importantly, come in the mood to have a great week! 

Postgraduate Studies

I haven't thought about a course for taking in the future, but now I would consider one. I think it's important for me to keep studying and keep learning.

After I graduate of this career,I want to do something very different, but always related with the biology, because I've always liked this subject  more than others.

So,I'll probably study Marine Biology or something like that, actually this career was a option for me before started with Odontology, I think it's a little underrated career and this is wrong especially in this country, when a big part of the national economy depends of the coast and everything the ocean gives us.

I'll study here in Chile, I never thought in a student exchange for me, only travel to other country for fun, but I would like to study in the south of Chile, where the learning it's the best for this area, not in the capital. About the money to pay, I have to save for that, asking for help in the bank is impossible for me after this career.

I would like to study in a part-time course, something that allows me work in a day, and study in the night, always if this is possible, if is not, I have to find another way I think.

I know this course it's not related with Odontology, but I really like them both, so I prefer learning much as I can of both and try to coordinate them.

  

                                             

My future Job

I'm studying Dentistry so I really want to finish this career and work in this area, I think is normal for a student work in the things that you student and spend many years.

Now with 19 years I'm not very focused in my future job when I finish the career, actually I'm looking for a job for the summer near to my town. But when I think about my future job in dentistry it  makes me anxious.

First, as a requirement, work in the public area would be the best for me, I know that many students dream with having an own consultation, some place to be your own boss and control their times as they want, personally I think that can be very expensive and stressful, so I plan work for the public system and be near to the people, in the place were I live, La Ligua, the public health is the worst, for that I expect to improve that and help.

About the speciality, I'll be a pedriatic dentist, because I really enjoy spend time with children and I think helped their with their healthy is a productive and important action. I also think this job can bring me a good salary, but this it's not my priority.

I also imagine me working in far away places, not in the typical cities like Santiago,Viña del Mar, etc., but first I want to start in La Ligua,V region.

I also hope that my job allow me travel a lot to other places, and meet people.

My Hobby!

Hi! Today I'm going to talk about my hobbies, the last year  I used to do a lot of swim, that because my home is near from many beaches, that helped with distract myself and think about other things, in general to relax me. The first semester of this year I took the swimming class in University, but this semester I don't so I was looking for things to do in my free time.

In this year I haven't enough time to do things I like, I've been busy with all the University stuff, but when I have a little time to do whatever I want, I watch movies or some series in Netflix, but this can be dangerous because is addictive and you can spend a lot of time in this.

Another thing I've been doing, actually learning it's playing guitar, I always liked this instrument more than other, but I never had a one, now that I live with my cousin I have the opportunity to have one and used whenever I want because he doesn't use it.

I think learn this hobby is very useful to stay relaxed, like many other hobbies, so if you don't have one, find it, that help you to have a better life! 

I chose vacation for this post because I'd never gone to a concert in my life 

I actually don't remember very well when it was, I think  maybe in 2007 or 2008, me and my family went to Mendoza- Argentina, This trip was for two weeks.

The group it was about a 14 person, all of them are my family, my father's, uncles, grandfathers, brothers and more, so we rent two houses for stayed in that time. I think it's for this reason that this vacation have been the best of my life, in other time we only are five or seven person, so it's more boring share all the days with the same people compare with the fun of be a big group.

We did a lot of fun activities, like visit the Zoo in this city, this is a different zoo at last for me, because I never saw the monkies free all over the place before. We traveled to another city near to Mendoza named Uspallata, here we did xtrem sports in the river,played paintball and we went to the thermal springs.

In Mendoza we ate in a free restorant named "Las Tinajas" here you pay for the ticket and you can eat whatever you want and the times that you want too, here have the greatest meat ever.

I want to travel with all of my family again sometime, but a place more far from Chile and for more days. 

A country I'd like to visit 

 I'd like to visit Perú, because this country is really near to Chile and I want to go the next year so the money to go will be less.

A reason makes me want to go there is the scenery that it has, you can admire the landscape for example, in Machupicchu, this place is very popular because it was a historical monument of the Inca civilization.

Travelling to this country is a dream that I have with my group of friends, actually we decided to save some money to this trip, we know it's difficult save money at this age but we really want go there so we are trying.

Another reason to go to Perú is for the beaches in there, Perú have a very beautiful coastline, not too long like Chilean coast, but if you are a sea lover like me you will definitely love it.  

The language in this country is Spanish, for that it will be more easy understand me with the people and get a good conversation.  Some places I'd like to know in there will be Machupicchu, of course, Monray, the "Valle Sagrado de los Incas" and beach's like Máncora and Paracas.

I wouldn't like to work or live in Perú because I love living in Chile so I wouldn't want change that and be alone in another country, only for vacation.

At last, I'd like to visit Perú to compare the food with the Chilean food, and decide one is the best about "ceviche" or "Pisco Sour".
